STAR 1 Search and Rescue is an all-volunteer organization that responds to lost and missing person incidents in Iowa and surrounding areas.
STAR 1 Team members are trained and certified in accordance with the standards of the National Association of Search and Rescue (NASAR). All members are certified as SAR Tech IIs or SAR Tech IIIs (Ground Search Technicians) and have completed relevant ICS and NIMS Courses. All members have undergone a background check.
As a professional volunteer organization, we believe that training and education are crucial to the successful resolution of missing person incidents. All members are encouraged to continue their SAR education through recognized training programs, evaluations and seminars.
We do not self deploy or deploy at the request of private citizens. We dispatch through Story County Emergency Management Agency.
